Valentine’s Day!

A few years back I had a scavenger hunt for the kids in the morning when they first woke up.  Every year they ask to have another one…I guess I started a tradition:).  When they wake up, they follow a trail to find little “surprises”.   The looks on their faces are priceless.  They absolutely LOVE it!

Carter followed…

Caroline followed…

Leighton followed…

Everyone has to stay in their room until each kid is awake.  Caroline and Leighton were the first ones awake…Caroline could hardly wait to begin.

Caroline looking out her door…hoping Carter would wake up SOON!

They followed their trails around the house to their first treasure.  Carter found candy…Caroline found lip gloss/head band…Leighton found stickers!

They followed their valentine trail again…

…to stuffed animals and more candy!

The last trail led to the kitchen table, where we had a nutritious breakfast of powdered donuts and fruit.

The sweetest little valentines…precious babies!

My favorite Valentine of all…

We are enjoying Carter’s school year, they have a lot of fun activities for the kids.  A few weeks ago they had “Western Day”.  Carter was a handsome little cowboy.

Carter line dancing to “Achy Breaky Heart”…

Pushing each other across the field…”plowing”

Riding the “bull”…

Gathering supplies for a “campout”…

My 2 little cowgirls LOVED watching big brother…and the rodeo clowns

A few weeks after Western Day, the first grade put on a musical called “The Unity Tree”.  They had been practicing alot and Carter was excited to get to show us all of their hard work.  It was a cute musical about cats vs. dogs learning to get along.  Carter had a small speaking part.

We were proud of our little puppy dog!

Caroline’s Pre-School

Last week Caroline’s pre-school had “zoo day” where the Ft. Worth Zoo brought animals to show to the kids.  I was able to bring Leighton to see the animals as well.

Caroline couldn’t believe they brought a REAL alligator! She couldn’t wait to tell Carter…

This was their favorite little guy…he walked right up next to the kids…

Caroline LOVED zoo day!

Caroline is in the Giraffe class at school.  Their class mascot is “GiGi the giraffe”!  Every weekend a different child gets to bring her home and document their time together to take back to school.  Caroline has been DYING for her turn.  One day a few weeks ago she was all teary-eyed when I picked her up from school because it STILL wasn’t her turn to bring GiGi home.  Last week I picked her up from school and she was BEAMING as she carried GiGi to the car.  Her turn had finally come…

We got home and she was so excited to play with her and change her outfits.  She played with GiGi in her puppet show…

She showed GiGi her clay…

Friday for lunch she took GiGi to McDonalds…

GiGi was a “big deal” for about 24 hours…the new wore off…and GiGi wasn’t played with again until she took her back to school on Tuesday:).  All the wanting and waiting and tears…and 24 hours was enough.  Gotta love the emotions of a 5 year old girl!
