Mother’s Day ’14

We went to Oklahoma for Mother’s Day this year.  It was short and sweet…but I enjoyed getting to be with my mom and mamma.  I LOVE being mommy to these three precious kiddos!

Leighton LOVED being in the OWL class this year. We loved being with Ms. Kristi and Ms. Jennifer.   She had a lot of her sweet friends in class with her. She was so excited to get up on stage and perform her song for graduation.  I kept asking her which song she was going to sing, but she wanted it to be a surprise!  They all looked so darling up there! She got really embarrassed when she spotted us in the audience:).  I adore this little doll!

In May we made a last minute plan to go camping.  We were supposed to go with some friends (the EXPERT campers)…but one of their daughters got sick at the last minute.  Our kids had totally been looking forward to it…so we HAD to go.  We have never gone camping as a family…like real camping where we stay in tents.  This was going to be an adventure!  So we borrowed tents…packed up the ice chest…threw in some blankets and headed out.  We arrived at the campsite around 3 in the afternoon and drove around and let the kids pick out the best spot to set up our tent.  We gathered some fire wood…and then took off exploring.  We had the best time!  We walked all around the water’s edge on some LARGE boulders.  Later that evening we roasted hot dogs…and SMORES of course!  When all of the stars came out we went back to the boulders and laid on our backs to look at the stars…and told scary stories.  We finally went back to our tents and slept…on the HARD ground….with no blow up mattress.  When we woke up the next morning I hurt EVERYWHERE.  I surely had rock indentations all over my back, shoulders, and hips. I could seriously hardly walk.  Back to the FUN family time… Carter and Ben started the morning off by fishing…then we all went hiking…and then swam the rest of the day.  The kids had a blast…I loved being away from technology…and we will definitely go again….better prepared:).

Easter 2014

Easter was laid back and quiet this year.  We stayed here in Texas and celebrated with Mimi/Grandad and all the cousins.  The night before Easter we colored eggs…hands down one of their favorite things to do!  I don’t know how I missed getting a picture of Carter…but he was there as well.

I got to go with Caroline on her first grade field trip to the zoo.  We had perfect weather…and the kids all loved it!  I love getting to watch Caroline around all of her school friends.  She is such a good friend to everyone.

Sweet Leighton was so excited to get to finally play a sport.  Her sweet friend Lila signed up to play with UPWARDS soccer and asked Leighton to play with her. This was a 5 and 6 year old league…and she played up.  We took her to buy cleats, shin guards, and a pink shiny new ball.  She had a lot of fun….and loved that we got to watch HER  do something for a change.  She ran after the ball…for the most part knew which direction she should be going…and scored 2 goals all season.  We were all thrilled for her!

Every game a player gets recognized for a good sportsman character trait.  The very first game Leighton got chosen for “working well with others”.  She was pretty excited to get a medal her very first game!

Carter turns 10!

I finally have a child in the double digits.  For some reason this bothered me that Carter is now double digits.  I’m not sure why…maybe I see the teenage years looming ahead.  I LOVE this sweet boy…I love everything about him.  His personality is contagious and I wish I could be like he is when entering new situations.  He goes into every situation happy and excited to meet new friends.  He is always inclusive to all those around him…he is extremely intuitive to others feelings.  He has the biggest heart…always sweet and thoughtful.  He is absolutely hilarious…and makes us laugh daily.  He is a cuddle bug…still wants to snuggle and hold hands.  I treasure those moments.  He loves history and travelling and hockey.  He brings a lot of JOY to our family!

The day of his birthday he woke up to a cookie cake and a candy-gram.  He likes candy as much as his momma! He was excited to see it.

For his birthday dinner he chose the hibachi steak house. When they came out with the drums to sing him happy birthday and bring ice cream, Carter got up and started dancing…see why I adore him!

For Carter’s birthday party he wanted an ice hockey party.  We went ice skating and had a lot of fun! I didn’t get a lot of pictures because none of the boys would stand still long enough!
